Why No MRI?
Thursday August 21, 2003
Many patients leave the doctor's office wondering why they did not get an MRI. What the doctor forgetful? Do they not know about MRIs? Were they concerned my insurance would not pay for a MRI? These are all common concerns, but the truth is usually that if a MRI is not ordered, then it would probably not be helpful at that point in treatment. Ordering unnecessary tests is not only irresponsible, but it can cloud thinking and delay diagnosis and treatment.
