Calcific Tendonitis
Sunday August 15, 2004
Calcific tendonitis is a condition of calcium deposits within a tendon -- most commonly within the rotator cuff tendons. The cause of calcific tendonitis is not well understood, but it can cause significant pain and discomfort.
Fortunately, the pain associated with calcific tendonitis often resolves over a period of several weeks. Treatment options include specific exercises, anti-inflammatory medications, and possibly a cortisone injection. If patients do not find relief with these modalities, surgery is an option.
