Lidoderm Patch for Knee Arthritis Pain

Having problems with knee arthritis pain? You're not alone. There are quite a few treatments available for knee arthritis pain, but many patients continue to have problems finding relief from pain. Most medications used to treat knee arthritis pain are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as Motrin, Aleve, and Celebrex. Unfortunately, many patients worry about the side-effects of these medications including stomach ulcers and recent concerns about heart problems.

New research presented at the American Pain Society meeting discussed an investigation comparing Celebrex to a Lidocaine patch. The Lidocaine patch is a topical analgesic patch that can be applied directly to the affected knee. Side-effects of the patch are minimal. Over half of the patients in the recent study had at least 30% improvement in their symptoms.
