Motor Oil for the Knee Joint?

Synvisc is an injectible treatment used in the treatment of arthritis of the knee. The substance in the Synvisc injection is the same lubricant found in normal knee joint fluid. Sometime doctors will use the analogy of adding 'motor oil' to the joint when trying to explain how Synvisc is thought to work.
