Only three cortisone injections?

Saturday April 14, 2007
Many people say that a patient can have a limit of three cortisone injections. Some people say three in a particular joint, or three in one year. But what is the actual limit to cortisone shots? Or is there a limit at all?

Doctors limit the number of cortisone injections given to a patient because in large doses cortisone can potentially damage the joints of the body. In smaller, less frequent doses, cortisone is quite safe. But patients should not over-use cortisone injections.
