X-Rays and MRIs: Which is better?

If you have knee pain, and end up seeking the opinion of a physician, odds are you will end up having some type of imaging test to help evaluate the cause of your symptoms. The two most frequently performed tests used to evaluate knee problems are x-rays and MRIs.

Many patients feel slighted if they do not get an MRI of their knee. But is an MRI a better test? Do you think an MRI is better than an x-ray? The truth is that one is not better than the other. These are different tests, used to look at different aspects of the knee. Some problems are better evaluated with x-rays, and some better with an MRI. Share your comments here.
