Is it time for a hip replacement?

A total hip replacement is a major surgery, and therefore deciding to have the surgery done is a big decision. This procedure is in the news again today because Penn State's long time football coach Joe Paterno had a hip replacement surgery performed this weekend.

Hip replacement surgery is performed about 300,000 times in the United States every year. Because of the long history of hip replacement surgery, this procedure has become a safer and more reliable method to treat severe hip arthritis pain. Here are some signs to look for to help you decide if the time is right, or not right, for hip replacement surgery.
