How Would You Grade Your Hospital?

The quality and safety of patient care in our hospitals is becoming increasingly scrutinized.  Many patient care advocates are supportive of measures that patients can access in order to determine the quality of care they receive.  A recent report by the Leapfrog Group has graded 2,651 hospitals in the United States on several dozen criteria that reflect patient safety and avoidable errors.

729 of the graded hospitals were rated "A" by the group.  Just over 100 were not graded at the present time, and are expected to receive grades of "D" or "F".  Making this information public helps to drive the hospital industry to focus on quality efforts and ensure that all patients are treated safely.
