Recent research published in the British Medical Journal demonstrate increased risk of cardiovascular events with all anti-inflammatory medications. Previously associated with prescription medications such as Vioxx, this research shows that anyone taking any anti-inflammatory medications should be aware of potential side-effects.
Anti-inflammatory medications are commonly used to treat conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis, and arthritis. The medications include Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, and others. The study found that different medications had different risk profiles, but there was elevated risk of heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular events with any of the anti-inflammatory medications.
