Treatment of a Shoulder Dislocation

Shoulder dislocations occur when the ball of the ball-and-socket shoulder joint comes out of position.  If this is the first time your shoulder dislocates, usually someone has to put the shoulder back in to proper position.  People who have had previous dislocations can often pop their own shoulder back in on their own.

Treatment of a shoulder dislocation often requires a surgery to repair ligaments damaged when the shoulder came out of socket.  Without treatment, repeat dislocations are often a problem.  Learn about the treatments available for shoulder dislocations...
