The following are some of the best online resources for finding information on a variety of health related topics: If you are still having difficulty finding information on the subject of your query, the following resources may be of help. Unfortunately, these resources are targeted to physicians, and thus may be more difficult reading. For some of the less common orthopedic procedures and diagnoses, there may be little information available on the Internet.

Orthopedic Databases:

  • National Org. Rare Disorders[/br] An excellent database that has information on hundreds of uncommon disorders.

  • RxList
    Contains information on most all commonly prescribed and over the counter medications.

Online Orthopedic Communities:

  • OrthoBoard
    OrthoBoard is the place to ask questions, tell about your experience, or learn from others. All orthopedic topics are fair game--come join the discussion.

  • Totally Hip
    A fantastic site for patients about hip surgery. This site will tell you about the surgery, connect you with patients, offers stories--it has it all!

  • Robin's Total Knee Page
    Similar to totallyhip.org, this is patient to patient site with a great number of resources and good information.

  • Support Groups[/br] This is a database of many online support groups, mainly bulletin boards, covering dozens of conditions.

Physician Directories:

  • AAOS Directory
    The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has a search capability to search its database of members.

  • AMA Directory
    Compiled and published by the American Medical Association as a reference source of demographic and professional information on individual physicians in the United States.

  • ABMS
    The American Board of Medical Specialties has a list of certified physicains in all specialties at this site.
