Syndesmosis Injuries

The syndesmosis is the ligament that connects the two bones of the leg, the tibia and the fibula. Injuries to the syndesmosis are usually associated with ankle injuries, including sprains and fractures. When the syndesmosis is injured, treatment may be more significant than with a simple sprain or fracture.
