What Made You Decide to Have Knee Replacement?

I could not walk without pain, injections, exercises and knee brace did not relieve the pain.

What Were You Not Prepared For?

I was not prepared for the swelling and bruising from ankle to quads. The pain level the day of surgery through day 3 was very intense. I was not ready for the amount of pain medication I have had to take to control pain through rehab exercises, recovery is a full time job if done right.

Lessons Learned

  • I prepared for my surgery just like I would a running event or a football season. I was in the fitness center 4 to 5 days per week, I lost weight (5'10" / 180) and my legs were strong which has made recovery go ahead of schedule. A person receiving a knee replacement should prepare for the surgery at least 6 months before surgery, help your doctor out by ensuring you are ready for success.
