What Made You Decide to Have Knee Replacement?

My knee was totally worn out. I had both lateral and medial meniscus removed in 40 years ago when I was 18 & 19 due tears. I also had 3 other surgeries on it repairing other damage.

What Were You Not Prepared For?

The pain levels being more 3 years after surgery than prior to it as well as much more limited movement in the knee. The doctors tell me I have good range of movement, but it doesn't move in a fashion that enables me to do many tasks around my home. I also have to take more anti-inflammatory/pain relief meds than before. Swelling after any activity is a constant problem. An aside I have torn a meniscus in my other knee and require surgery on it.

Lessons Learned

  • All the previous surgeries had made my joint less likely to recover the maximum levels--my surgeon's words after the 2nd surgery on my new knee.
