What Activity Caused Your Tennis Elbow?

I'm a baseball umpire and two years ago I was hit right on the elbow by a foul ball.. the initial pain was incredible but within a week

the swelling and discoloring decreased and the pain gradually went away.

Then about two months later I suddenly developed soreness in that elbow that got to the point where I couldn't pick anything up or support my weight and reach out to grasp anything without a sudden pain.

I put up with the constant aching and other soreness for about 10 months now, 17 months late I'm still suffering from the sports injury.

How Long Were You Doing It?

It was a sudden injury that had not happened before in 10 seasons behind the plate. I'm in my early 60s.

I have had cortisone injections..the first one was very effective for about 3 months, the 2nd and third injections gave me literally no relief and now I'm faced with other alternatives , surgery or just putting up with the inconvenience and nagging aches dull pain.

Lessons Learned

  • Lesson-1: to keep my limbs out of the line of foul balls.
  • Lesson-2: to seek out treatment earlier
